Professor Nadir Osman is a consultant urologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He simultaneously runs a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.
Prof. Osman specializes in urinary tract reconstruction and is part of a team that provides an internationally recognized tertiary referral service. He specializes in procedures to treat urethral strictures, complex incontinence problems, including urethral fistulas and advanced bladder disease.
He graduated from the University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2006, graduating with honors. Between 2010 and 2018, the professor received specialized training in urology in Merseyside and Yorkshire. He devoted the last two years of his training exclusively to urinary tract reconstruction under Professor C. Chapple. He then received specialized training in complex vaginal reconstruction in Moscow under Prof. D. Pushkar. Professor Osman conducted research in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in pelvic floor disorders, which led to his doctoral degree in 2014.
He is academically active, acting as an investigator in clinical research on lower urinary tract disorders. He has presented more than 30 research posters and given six invited presentations at national and international meetings. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles, 22 chapters in books and 2 books. He serves on the editorial board of the leading journal in functional urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, and is a reviewer for several journals. In addition, he is a full member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Urethral Stenosis Guidelines Panel, the EAU Young Academic Urologists’ Group on Functional Urology, and the International Continence Society Working Group on Underactive Bladder.
In 2019, he was selected as one of only three urologists across Europe to participate in the prestigious EAU-AUA academic exchange program, where he visited centers in the US to expand his knowledge.
